There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to this line of business. That’s why I’m sharing with you today this interview with Kelly Sensei on Food Blogging How-Tos. Because she’s written the book on it. Literally. Today we’re taking a step back in time. I originally recorded this podcast episode for the Namely Marly Podcast a couple of years ago. (see link below). In fact, this discussion with Kelly is what caused me to think about the idea of a podcast for food bloggers. I was reeling in excitement, having just come back from the first Chopped Conference. Everyone told me how much they loved the conference and how it was such a motivational experience. I remember thinking, I wish there were a way to keep that excitement going all year long.
I thought a podcast might be a way to do that. There weren’t any podcasts devoted to food blogging at the time and so I thought it would be a great opportunity. And so I did a little prep work and then launched the podcast in February of 2015.
It’s been two years since the Chopped Podcast launched and I’m so excited about it! I love the feedback I get from folks who have pondered the same questions: How do we make this food blogging thing work?
Well, that’s one reason Kelly is such a great guest. She has a master’s degree in broadcast journalism and a culinary degree as well. That’s right. She’s a chef. I remember at the time I spoke to her thinking that must be the perfect credentials for a food blogger.
What I’ve learned in the two years of interviewing successful food bloggers? There isn’t one set of perfect credentials. You can come at this business from many different perspectives. Some have previous been teachers, others come from a background in marketing. Liz Della Croce has a background in hotel hospitality.
It all makes sense!
